Berliner

The Berliner Pfannkuchen is a traditional German pastry made from a fried yeast dough and usually filled with a jam filling and topped with powdered sugar. This pastry was traditionally eaten to celebrate New Year's Eve but it can now be found throughout the year. 

A lot of regional variations have been created such as "bolas de Berlim" in Portugal, filled with a egg-yold cream or the "Kitchener Bun" in South Australia, where the Berliner is cut in half and filled with both cream and jam.
